Randomized Response Techniques

2018
There are situations when we need information on sensitive features/characteristics of the individuals in a population. Usual sampling techniques based on ‘direct’ questionnaire may not be fruitful and are likely to lead to ‘refusal’ or ‘untruthful’ reporting.

Covariate Randomized Response Models

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1988
Abstract The randomized response technique (RRT) is a survey procedure that requires respondents to decide randomly whether to respond to a sensitive question in its positive or negative form (Warner 1965) or respond to a sensitive question and an unrelated question (Greenberg, Abul-Ela, Simmons, and Horvitz 1969).

Random Fluctuations of Response Rate

Psychometrika, 1962
A simple model for fluctuating interresponse times is developed and studied. It involves a mechanism that generates regularly spaced excitations, each of which can trigger off a response after a random delay. The excitations are not observable, but their periodicity is reflected in a regular patterning of responses.

Randomized Item Response Theory Models

Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 2005
The randomized response (RR) technique is often used to obtain answers on sensitive questions. A new method is developed to measure latent variables using the RR technique because direct questioning leads to biased results. Within the RR technique is the probability of the true response modeled by an item response theory (IRT) model.

Group Response‐Adaptive Randomization With Delayed and Missing Responses

Statistics in Medicine
ABSTRACTResponse‐adaptive randomization (RAR) procedures have been extensively studied in the literature, but most of the procedures rely on updating the randomization after each response, which is impractical in many clinical trials. In this article, we propose a new family of RAR procedures that dynamically update based on the responses of a group of

Randomized Item Response Models

2010
Item responses can be masked before they are observed via a randomized response mechanism. This technique is used to protect individuals and improve their willingness to answer truthfully. Various traditional randomized response sampling techniques are discussed and extended to a multivariate setting.

Optional Randomized Response Revisited

2016
Abstract In a randomized response (RR) survey on a sensitive character, the perception of sensitivity can vary from person to person and a section of the respondents may even be willing to disclose their true states rather than providing responses via the use of a randomization device.
