How wildlife respond to tropical cyclones: short‐term tactics and long‐term impacts

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT From butterflies to lizards and from sharks to seabirds, wildlife exhibit tactics to survive the impacts of tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes, cyclones, or typhoons depending on where they occur. Some species seek refuge during the storm by moving, some remain in place and ride it out, and others move longer distances, avoiding the ...

Soil Properties and Plant Biomass Production in Natural Rangeland Management Systems

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo
Improper management of rangelands can cause land degradation and reduce the economic efficiency of livestock activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate soil properties and quantify plant biomass production in four natural rangeland management ...

Developing a macroecology for human‐altered ecosystems

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Although anthropogenically‐induced ecological disruptions are fundamentally important in defining ecosystem properties, they are largely overlooked by macroecological theory. Anthropogenic disruptions and their effects are generally not comparable to one another, nor to disturbances that are part of natural disturbance regimes.

Bridging Cross‐Scale Science–Policy Interfaces for Coherent Land‐Use Governance: Knowledge Co‐Production and Uptake in Kenya's Polycentric System

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Land is fundamental to livelihoods and ecosystem health but faces mounting pressure from human activities, climate change, and competing development demands. Science–policy interfaces (SPIs)—platforms that connect experts and policymakers—are vital for co‐producing knowledge to inform coherent, sustainable land‐use governance.

Seasonal drivers of plant–soil–microbial community structure and functions in Western Himalayan grasslands, Pakistan

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Plant species richness was greater in summer in both alpine and subalpine grassland ecosystems. Soil moisture demonstrates significant positive correlations with soil organic carbon and total nitrogen across seasonal periods. Microbial α‐diversity peaks during summer but maintains functional stability across seasons.
