The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Stochastic simulation of the economic viability of feedlot steers fed with different proportions of concentrate

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2017
The economic viability of feedlot zebu bulls, slaughtered at 450 kg after 90 days of feeding with diets consisting of different proportions of concentrate in dry matter (40, 60 or 80%), was estimated using Monte Carlo simulations, with or without the ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Parâmetros genéticos para idade ao primeiro parto estimados por diferentes modelos para rebanhos da raça Nelore Genetic parameters for age at first calving estimated by different models for Nellore breed herds

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

A Brief Analysis of the Correlation Between Budget and Performance in Romanian Soccer

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai: Educatio Artis Gymnasticae
Starting from the widely held idea in Romanian football (and not only) that a higher budget is almost the only requirement for better performance for a club, our study investigates the existence and intensity of such a correlation.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Evaluation of stability in sweetpotato using different methods

open access: yesAnnals of Tropical Research, 2001
The stability in sweetpotato (Ipomea batatas L.) was evaluated using the methods of Eberhart and Russel (1966), Shukla (1972.) and Francis and Kannenberg (1978).

Improvement of yield and yield stability in safflower using multivariate, parametric and non-parametric methods under different irrigation treatments and planting date

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2020
Development of superior genotypes with high adaptability to different environments is considered as one of the most important goals in safflower breeding programs. In this study, ten parametric and six non-parametric measures along with the additive main
