Stratified pair ranked set sampling

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2017
Stratified pair ranked set sampling is introduced and applied in estimating the population mean. Mathematical properties of the suggested estimator are treated.

A ranked-set sample signed-rank statistic

Journal of Nonparametric Statistics, 1998
A procedure analogous to the Wilcoxon signed-rank test is developed for settings in which ranked-set samples are used in place of simple random samples. The ranked-set sample statistic is shown to be distribution-free and to have a symmetric null distribution. The statistic is a linear combination of U-statistics, so U-statistics results can be used to

Robust extreme ranked set sampling

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2009
In this paper, a robust extreme ranked set sampling (RERSS) procedure for estimating the population mean is introduced. It is shown that the proposed method gives an unbiased estimator with smaller variance, provided the underlying distribution is symmetric.

Stratified ranked set sample

2010
Summary: Stratified simple random sampling (SSRS) is used in certain types of surveys because it combines the conceptual simplicity of simple random sampling (SRS) with potentially significant gains in efficiency. It is a convenient technique to use whenever we wish to ensure that our sample is representative of the population and also to obtain ...

Improvements in ranked set sampling

2014
The main focus of many agricultural, ecological and environmental studies is to develop well designed, cost-effective and efficient sampling designs. Ranked set sampling (RSS) is one of those sampling methods that can help accomplish such objectives by incorporating prior information and expert knowledge to the design.
