Transition Path Theory Insights into Hurricane Rapid Intensification
Abstract We examine hurricane and ocean reanalysis data to understand how rapid intensification (RI) of tropical cyclones is influenced by the upper ocean density structure, focusing on barrier layer (BL) thickness and thermocline depth in the eastern Caribbean Sea and the nearby western tropical North Atlantic.

GPs and end of life decisions : views and experiences [PDF]
The views and experiences of GPs with respect to end of life (EoL) care are seldom addressed. The aim of this article is to better understand this aspect of care. A cross-sectional survey of all doctors in the country was designed and set up. The overall

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Large Eddy Simulation of an Entire Tropical Cyclone From Initial Vortex to Maturity
We simulated a tropical cyclone in an idealized environment, from its weak initial vortex to maturity, using a regional numerical weather prediction model with a uniform horizontal resolution of 100 m, regarded as a large eddy simulation (LES).

Technological roots and structural implications of the double bubble at the turn of the Century [PDF]
This paper argues that the two boom and bust episodes of the turn of the Century – the Internet mania and crash of 1990s and the easy liquidity boom and bust of 2000s– are two distinct components of a single structural phenomenon.

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Air-sea interactions during rapid intensification of typhoon Fengshen (2008)
Abstract Typhoon (TY) Fengshen (2008) rapidly intensified from 35 to 70 kt (about 18–36 m/s) in 24 h between 0000 UTC 19 June and 0000 UTC 20 June 2008 east of the Philippines. Based on multi-platform observations, the oceanic and atmospheric processes responsible for its rapid intensification (RI) is investigated in this study.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
