Registration of Rapid Variations of Counting Rates

open access: yes, 1962
SummaryA system for recording rapid variations of counting rates is described which produces graphs free of the deformations usually introduced by the use of a ratemeter-recorder system. This system consists of a binary scaler, a modified isotope scanner ...

Rapid magnetic resonance tissue relaxometry in the steady state [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Longitudinal (T1) and transverse (T2) relaxation are the most fundamental physical processes governing the signal intensity and the soft tissue contrast in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

ASASSN-16dv: Superhumps in a Long-period X-Ray-luminous Dwarf Nova

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Combining a long-term light curve, four-color rapid photometry, and spectroscopic and X-ray observations with a 27-day time base TESS light curve, we present the first dedicated study of ASASSN-16dv, detected as a transient in the All-Sky Automated ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Tunneling based ten attomolar DNA biosensor

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Early-stage detection prevents disease progression and complications in treatment procedures, especially for infectious diseases. This requires rapid and accurate sensing technologies and techniques that remove the need for expensive and time-consuming ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Simultaneous Sensing of Temperature and Bi-Directional Strain in a Prismatic Li-Ion Battery

open access: yesBatteries, 2018
Thermal and pressure stability of Li-ion batteries (LiB) are the most important parameters for safety. In abuse operating conditions, the rapid increase of temperature and pressure can cause the appearance of hot-spots, which may lead to an increasing ...

Spectro-polarimetric Properties of Sunquake Sources in X1.5 Flare and Evidence for Electron and Proton Beam Impacts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The first significant sunquake event of Solar Cycle 25 was observed during the X1.5 flare of 2022 May 10, by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dynamic coordinated control of governor-converter for variable speed pumped storage unit based on real-time optimization

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The regulation and control of the traditional fixed speed pumped storage unit (FSPSU) can only be realized by the governor, while the regulation and control of the variable speed pumped storage unit (VSPSU) can be realized by the coordination and ...
