A novel finding of Rapunzel syndrome
Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology, 2017Rapunzel syndrome is a rare form of gastric trichobezoar (hair ball) involving extension of a tail of the hair into the small bowel. A 13-year-old girl was admitted with a 4-day history of epigastric pain and nausea which worsened after meals. Abdominal ultrasound showed duodenal wall thickening and lymphadenopathy.

Telling the tale of Rapunzel syndrome

A 26-YEAR-OLD WOMAN was brought to the emergency department with mild abdominal discomfort, increasing nausea, and worsening constipation over the previous several days.

Gastric trichobezoar and Rapunzel syndrome
Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 200416-year-old woman with a history of depression presented with a -day history of increasing pain in the left upper quadrant, followed y 4 days of nausea and vomiting. She denied fever, chills, weight oss, or diarrhea. On examination, the patient was afebrile, hemodyamically stable, with a large abdominal mass primarily in the left pper quadrant.
