Separation of Radioactive Elements from Rare Earth Element-Bearing Minerals

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Rare earth elements (REE), originally found in various low-grade deposits in the form of different minerals, are associated with gangues that have similar physicochemical properties.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Rare Earth Elements

open access: yesRevista Vórtex, 2014
Rare (Earth) Elements is a cycle of works for solo piano. The cycle was inspired by James Dillon's Book of Elements (Vol. I-V). The complete cycle will consist of 14 pieces; one for each selected rare (earth) element. The chosen elements are Neodymium, Erbium, Tellurium, Hafnium, Tantalum, Technetium, Indium, Dysprosium, Lanthanium, Cerium, Europium ...

Performance Analysis of Rare-Earth Doped Oxide Thin-Film Transistors Using Neural Network Method

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society
The work analyzes the key impact factors on the performances of rare-earth element doped oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs), which are potentially used for high performance displays, by comparatively using a Bayesian Neural Network (BNN) method and ...

Crystal structure of pentakis(ethylenediamine-κ2N,N′)lanthanum(III) trichloride–ethylenediamine–dichloromethane (1/1/1)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
We report here the crystal structure of a ten-coordinate lanthanum(III) metal coordinated by five bidentate ethylenediamine ligands, [La(C2H8N2)5]Cl3·C2H8N2·CH2Cl2. One free ethylenediamine molecule and three Cl− anions are also located in the asymmetric

Rare Earth Elements

open access: yes, 2021
This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Elsevier via the DOI in this record ; The rare earth elements (REE) consist of 17 elements Sc, Y and the lanthanoids La – Lu. Their magnetic and luminescent properties make them essential components of digital and low carbon technologies.

Are Clay Minerals the Primary Control on the Oceanic Rare Earth Element Budget?

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2019
The rare earth elements (REEs) are an important tool for understanding biogeochemical cycling and sedimentary processes in the global ocean. However, ambiguities in the marine REE budgets, including questions around the dominant source of REEs to the ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Comprehensive Understandings of Rare Earth Element (REE) Speciation in Coal Fly Ashes and Implication for REE Extractability.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2019
In recent years, recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) from coal fly ashes (CFAs) has been considered as a promising resource recovery option. Yet, quantitative information on REE speciation in CFAs and its correlation with REE extractability are not ...
