Rare FCNC top, beauty and charm decays

open access: yes, 2014
Rare flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) decays of top, beauty and charm quarks can provide a powerful probe for as yet unobserved particles. Recent results on FCNC $b \to s$, $c \to u$ and $t$ transitions from the LHC experiments are reviewed ...

High Energy Density Asymmetric Aqueous Supercapacitor Based on a 2D Manganese Carbide as a Positive Electrode

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A circular route, involving upcycling of waste surgical masks, affords a Mn‐based layered carbide with porosity, redox activity and low work function. These features enable its effective operation as positive supercapacitor electrode in an aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor delivering 213 Wh L−1 energy density.

Exploratory calculation of the rare hyperon decay Σ+ → pℓ + ℓ − from lattice QCD

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The rare hyperon decay Σ+ → pℓ + ℓ − is a flavour-changing neutral current process mediated by an s → d transition that occurs only at loop level within the Standard Model.

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

A pathway to unveiling neutrinoless ββ decay nuclear matrix elements via γγ decay

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We investigate the experimental feasibility of detecting second-order double-magnetic dipole (γγ-M1M1) decays from double isobaric analog states (DIAS), which have recently been found to be strongly correlated with the nuclear matrix elements of ...

The NA62 Experiment at CERN

open access: yes, 2015
The main physics goal of the NA62 experiment at CERN is to precisely measure the branching ratio of the kaon rare decay $K^+\rightarrow \pi^+ \nu \bar\nu$.
