Rare Earth Polyoxometalates

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2017
Longstanding and important applications make use of the chemical and physical properties of both rare earth metals and polyoxometalates of early transition metals. The catalytic, optical, and magnetic features of rare earth metal ions are well-known, as are the reversible multielectron redox and photoredox capabilities of polyoxomolybdates and ...

Rare Earth, Rare Earth Luminescence, Luminescent Rare Earth Compounds, and Photofunctional Rare Earth Hybrid Materials

2017
This chapter mainly focuses on the fundamental principles of rare earth luminescence, which are important for the investigation of the photofunctional rare earth hybrid materials. It introduces the rare earth elements and their physiochemical properties, the atomic spectral term and energy level transition of rare earth ions associated with their ...

RARE EARTHS*

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1942
ABSTRACT Cerium oxide in glasses is the strongest oxidizing agent with respect to iron. In combination with neodymium oxide, which compensates the remaining hue, it represents the ideal decolorizer. Cerium oxide absorbs in the ultraviolet without affecting visible transmission.

Rare Earths

2012
Like a number of other rare metals, the rare earth elements (REEs) are enablers; their use is essential in many aspects of modern technology, with unique properties that can have a profound effect on the performance of complex engineering systems. As demand for REEs has increased in recent years, so have efforts to find new sources of supply outside ...

Rare earth flextensional transducer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1984
The grain-oriented rare-earth iron alloy, Trefonol D (Tb0.3 Dy0.7 Fe1.95), exhibits exceptionally high magnetostrictive strain capability. Using the flextensional shell to couple the rare-earth rod motion to the water medium, very high acoustic source levels may be achieved compared to a piezoelectric driven flextensional transducer.
