AbstractIt has been shown experimentally by Knudsen and others that gases flowing at decreasing total pressures through small capillaries pass from a region of Poiseuille flow to a so‐called slip flow region which contains a flow minimum. Frequently the practice has been followed of approximating this behavior with a linear relationship which, although

Poiseuille flow of a rarefied gas mixture
Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1978The flow of a rarefied binary gas mixture is governed by transport equations which correspond to a coupled set of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. By means of the Fourier transform technique and by expanding the transformed kernels in terms or orthogonal functions the problem is reduced to the solution of a system of linear algebraic ...

Plane Couette Flow of Rarefied Gases
The Physics of Fluids, 1967The thirteen-moment approximation to the molecular velocity distribution function has been used to develop a system of moment equations and boundary conditions for plane Couette flow. Following linearization, an iteration scheme is proposed for study of nonlinear aspects of the problem.

DRAG OF SPHERES IN RAREFIED HYPERVELOCITY FLOW
AIAA Journal, 1963Drag of spheres has been measured under hypersonic, cold-wall, support-free conditions in a nonreacting flow in which molecular vibration was frozen. Data were obtained for a nominal freestream Mach number of 11 and for Reynolds numbers from 1 to 10 based on conditions immediately downstream of the normal shock and sphere diameter.
