Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

On the accuracy of macroscopic equations for linearized rarefied gas flows
Many macroscopic equations are proposed to describe the rarefied gas dynamics beyond the Navier-Stokes level, either from the mesoscopic Boltzmann equation or some physical arguments, including (i) Burnett, Woods, super-Burnett, augmented Burnett ...

An efficient third-order discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (DUGKS) with efficiency is presented in this work for simulating continuum and rarefied flows. By employing two-stage time-stepping scheme and the high-order DUGKS flux reconstruction strategy,

Rarefied gas flow through a slit.
A rarefied gas flow through a slit in an infinite plane wall, induced by a small pressure difference across the slit, is studied on the basis of the kinetic theory. The system of integral equations for the macroscopic variables (the velocity, density, and temperature of the gas), derived from the linearized Boltzmann–Krook–Welander equation with the ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Unified Gas-kinetic Scheme with Multigrid Convergence for Rarefied Flow Study
The unified gas kinetic scheme (UGKS) is a direct modeling method based on the gas dynamical model on the mesh size and time step scales. With the implementation of particle transport and collision in a time-dependent flux function, the UGKS can recover ...

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
