Parasports for cerebral palsy: Thinking and ‘prescribing’ beyond the Paralympics

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 7, Page 896-902, July 2026.
This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on parasport participation for individuals with cerebral palsy, highlighting key benefits, and providing sport‐specific adaptations that enhance accessibility of parasport. Abstract The landscape of care for individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) has evolved far beyond ‘fixing’ impairments toward a life ...

Beyond Exceptional and Ordinary: Analysing the Effects of Emergency Frames on EU Renewable Energy Policy‐Making

open access: yesJCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 1334-1358, July 2026.
Abstract This study aims to provide a better understanding of how policy‐making changes when an issue is framed as an emergency. Literature on emergency politics provides different views on policy‐making changes resulting from emergency frames, where ordinary and exceptional policy‐making overlap in different ways.

Study on Cyclic Tensile Shakedown Behaviour of Flexible Risers Considering Winding Process

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Flexible risers are subjected to significant tensile loads during manufacturing, installation, and in-service phases, and they experience multiple cyclic tensile loads throughout their entire service life.

Local Ratcheting Response in Dissimilar Metal Weld Joint: Characterization Through Digital Image Correlation Technique

open access: yes, 2017
Ratcheting fatigue behavior of different alloys and their weld joints has been a topic of interest in the past few decades. However, little information is available about the ratcheting response in different zones, when a composite weld section is ...

Tree stem methane emissions are regulated by site‐level biogeochemistry over species identity in Amazon floodplain forests

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 1, Page 179-190, July 2026.
Summary Tree stems in Amazonian floodplains emit substantial methane (CH4), yet controls on emission variability remain unclear. Emissions span orders of magnitude between várzea (nutrient‐rich) and igapó (nutrient‐poor) forests and among trees, suggesting controls beyond flooding.

Plastic behavior and shakedown limit of defected pressurized pipe under cyclic bending moment

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
Pipelines subjected to thermal or mechanical loads may fail due to plastic strain accumulation which leads to ratcheting. In this research, cyclic plastic behavior and shakedown limit are investigated experimentally and numerically for a defected ...

Effect of Pre-strain and Pre-corrosion on Ratcheting Behavior of ASTM A668 Class D Steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Ratcheting can be considered as one of the serious problems as this phenomenon causes premature failure of structural components. Ratcheting deformation can be regarded as the stress controlled low cycle fatigue (LCF) response of a material which occurs ...

Hidden Fungal DNA Structures May Shape Sequencing Outcomes

open access: yesBioEssays, Volume 48, Issue 6, June 2026.
Sequencing fungal DNA presents numerous challenges, and unexplored structural anomalies may be a contributor. Native ONT sequencing allows artefacts of disrupted pore translocation to be interrogated, facilitating mapping to genomic loci using raw signal analyses. Subsequent visualization tools could reveal novel genome architectures and drive advances
