Lithium-Ion Batteries with High Rate Capabilities

ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, 2017
Rate capability has always been an important factor in the design of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), but recent commercial demands for fast charging LIBs have added to this importance. Although almost all works devoted to the LIB electrode materials examine the rate capability somehow, there are growing efforts in the quest for high rate capability LIBs.

Increasing the rate capability of batteries with electrolyte flow

Applied Energy, 2013
Abstract A theoretical analysis is provided to describe the recently proposed ‘convection battery’, wherein electrolyte flow is driven through a battery cell to alter its efficiency and power. Concentrated-solution theory rationalizes the observation that imposition of electrolyte flow parallel to the current through a separator can reduce ...

Assessment of circuit capability and preparation of rating sheets

Second International Conference on the Reliability of Transmission and Distribution Equipment, 1995
The need to work power systems harder using the best knowledge of its capability is central to the objectives of the National Grid Company (NGC) Technology and Science Division (UK). This objective must be balanced by appropriate work on the impact of loading regimes on the life expectancy and maintenance requirements of the power system.

Enhanced rate capability of lithium deficient spinel via controlling cooling rate

Solid State Ionics, 2020
Abstract Lithium-deficient and Lithium-excess spinels LixMn1.6Ni0.4O4 (x = 1.05, 0.9) were synthesized by co-precipitation method assisted by ethylene glycol-oxalic acid. Control of cooling rates was performed in order to improve the crystallographic order, the lattice parameters and avoid the impurity precipitation.

China's capability to control its exchange rate

China Economic Review, 2004
Abstract This paper discusses the Chinese monetary authority's capability to control the exchange rate of the Renminbi (RMB) by reviewing the key features of China's currency exchange regime. It highlights the fact that this regime not only allows the monetary authority to affect the range of exchange rate fluctuation through open market operations,

Heating capabilities of the Hotline® and Autoline® at low flow rates

Pediatric Anesthesia, 2006
SummaryBackground : At low flow rates, fluid warmers using coaxial warming tubes are superior in preventing heat loss. This laboratory investigation was performed in order to compare the heating capabilities of two coaxial fluid warmers. Methods : The Hotline® and the Autoline® were investigated by using normal saline at various flow rates (10–99 ml · h−

Design and control of a direct fuel injector with rate shaping capability

2013 American Control Conference, 2013
This paper presents the design, modeling and control of a direct fuel injector with rate shaping capability. Applied with a hydro-mechanical internal feedback mechanism, the novel design can deliver continuously variable injection rate by controlling the injector needle position. The feedback circuit and the orifices of the injector control chamber are

Microsleep Prediction Using an EKG Capable Heart Rate Monitor

2016 IEEE First International Conference on Connected Health: Applications, Systems and Engineering Technologies (CHASE), 2016
Microsleep is an involuntary episode of sleep which lasts for a fraction of a second or up to one minute where an individual fails to respond to their environment and becomes unconscious. Because of the lapsed time, microsleep can create dangerous situations, for example when a user is driving a car, any microsleep can result in unsafe situations or ...
