The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural Design and Test of ROP Improving Tool with Adjustable Impact Frequency

open access: yesShiyou jixie
Rocks below the Permian are less drillable, leading to low rate of penetration(ROP), which can hardly be improved by only applying the drilling tool with single impact frequency. In this study, a ROP improving tool with adjustable impact frequency was ...

PDC Bit Optimization and Application in Panyu Oilfield of the South China Sea

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2016
Panyu Oilfield of the South China Sea is subject to several technical problems. For example, soft and hard formations are repeatedly staggered to possibly damage drill bits and tools; plastic soft clay is prone to bit balling; high requirements are raised

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Dynamics of Circumferential Torque Hydraulic Shock Generator

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2015
The circumferential torque hydraulic shock generator may effectively inhibit "stuck and slip" during the process of drilling operations. This paper presents the structure and principles of the circumferential torque hydraulic shock generator, and provides ...

Evolution of penetration mechanism induced by strain rate effect

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
According to the dynamic mechanical properties, in the striking velocity range, the strain rate of the projectile and target caused by penetration can reach 104~106 /s. The strain rate effect increases sharply and then tends to saturation.

Factors Affecting Penetration Rate

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Association for Petroleum Technology, 1965
By the use of drilling records taken in oil fields in Japan, the factors affecting penetration rate of a rotary drilling were analysed. Some of the results obtained are as follows: (1) In some fields there is a relationship between load on a bit and penetration rate both for vertical wells and directional wells drilled with a vertical deviation angle ...

THE EFFECT OF ACETATE BUFFER MIXTURES, ACETIC ACID, AND SODIUM ACETATE, ON THE PROTOPLASM, AS INFLUENCING THE RATE OF PENETRATION OF CRESYL BLUE INTO THE VACUOLE OF NITELLA

open access: yesThe Journal of General Physiology, 1927
When living cells of Nitella are exposed to a solution of sodium acetate and are then placed in a solution of brilliant cresyl blue made up with a borate buffer mixture at pH 7.85, a decrease in the rate of penetration of dye is found, without any change

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Structural Design and Performance Analysis of Novel Torsional Impact Tool

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
The existing impact and rotary-impact rock breaking technology mostly use the axial impact and the shear action of the PDC bit to achieve high-efficiency rock breaking, but excessive axial force will cause the failure of PDC bit shear force, resulting in
