Refractive Error and the Green/Red Ratio*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1960
Studies utilizing the Rayleigh equation have indicated that color normal subjects may use widely varying proportions of red and green to match a standard yellow. Six subjects with known refractive errors and with normal color vision made a series of red-green matches to a standard amount of the yellow stimulus. The green/red ratios were plotted against

The Variance Ratio Test with Stable Paretian Errors

Journal of Time Series Analysis, 2002
This paper examines the distribution of the overlapping variance ratio (OVR) statistic when the errors are distributed with thick tails as described by the family of stable Paretian distributions. The asymptotic distribution of the OVR statistic, which depends on the characteristic exponent, can be estimated using simulation.

The elements of tissue–air ratio and systematic error

Medical Physics, 1996
The definition of tissue–air ratio (TAR) is based on the concept of primary dose. To determine TAR, both in‐phantom and in‐air ionization measurements are utilized. To convert ionization in the phantom into dose and that in air into primary dose, correction factors must be applied to chamber readings in both geometries. Due to difficulties in selecting

An analysis of the effect of bit error ratio on signal reconstruction error

2011 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation, 2011
When compressed sensing technology is applied to underwater acoustic communication system, signal reconstruction error will be affected more or less by bit error ratio (BER). In this essay, random number of statistics, which obeys the law of standard normal distribution, is used to simulate the generation of bit error.

The fog influence on bit error ratio

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
The free space optic links are used in places, where it is very difficult to use optical fiber links. The advantages of free space optic link are a great bit rate, easy and fast installation, unlicensed frequency band. The greatest disadvantage is transmission medium, which it uses in case of FSO link, the atmosphere. The worst influence on FSO link is

Estimation of errors in absorbance ratio measurements

Journal of Chemometrics, 1991
AbstractRatio measurements are commonly used to address a variety of analytical problems in environmental, forensic and pharmaceutical laboratories. In absorbance ratioing techniques, analytical chemists rely on the spectral features of the analyte(s) of interest.

Assessing Random Error in the International Normalized Ratio

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, 1994
Changes in the international normalized ratio (INR) following warfarin administration may be explained not only by the attendant anticoagulant effect but also, in part, by random errors normally associated with laboratory assays. Thus, a patient's true INR will differ from the reported value by some random error related to the variability in the ...

The Evans ratio for ventricular size: A calculation error

Neuroradiology, 1979
The suggestion that the Evans ratio, the ratio of the transverse diameter of the anterior horns of the lateral ventricles to the internal diameter of the skull, was a more significant quantity than the ventricular measurement alone was based on a calculation error.

Tracking Error and Information Ratio

2003
In this chapter we will formally introduce and examine portfolio tracking error. As discussed in earlier chapters, risk is quantified by some measure of variance of asset returns. Assessing risk in absolute terms is usually done by calculating the volatility of an asset’s or a portfolio’s return, which in turn is defined as the annualised standard ...
