Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Sex Ratio and the ABO Blood Group System [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Epidemiology & Community Health, 1954
An interesting association between the sex ratio at birth and the ABO blood group system has been demonstrated by Sanghvi (1951). He showed, in each of two population samples, one from New York and the other from Bombay, that the sex ratio (percentage of males) of Group O infants of Group O mothers was significantly higher than that of Group A infants ...

Research on Seismic Collapse Margin Ratio of EBSF System

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2016
:To evaluate the safety against seismic collapse of EBSFs (Eccentrically Braced Steel Frames), 24 representative EBSFs in areas of seismic fortification intensity VIII and IX were designed.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Thermodynamic Modeling and Analysis of the Ratio of Heat to Power Based on a Conceptual CHP System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The CHP system not only produces electrical energy, but also produces thermal energy. An extensive analysis of the CHP market reveals that one of the most important engineering characteristics is flexibility. A variable heat-to-power ratio has compelling

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Ratio-dependent response of a temperate Australian estuarine system to sustained nitrogen loading

open access: yes, 2006
Classical resource- and the less studied ratio-dependent models of predator–prey relationships provide divergent predictions as to the sustained ecological effects of bottom-up forcing.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
