D/H ratios of the inner Solar System [PDF]
The original hydrogen isotope (D/H) ratios of different planetary bodies may indicate where each body formed in the Solar System. However, geological and atmospheric processes can alter these ratios through time. Over the past few decades, D/H ratios in meteorites from Vesta and Mars, as well as from S- and C-type asteroids, have been measured. The aim

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Harmless delays in a discrete ratio-dependent periodic predator-prey system
Verifiable criteria are established for the existence of positive periodic solutions and permanence of a delayed discrete periodic predator-prey model with Holling-type II functional response N1(k+1)=N1(k)exp{b1(k)−a1(k)N1(k−[τ1])−α1(k)N2(k)/(N1(k)+m(k ...

Stable Carbon Isotope Ratio (δ13C) Measurement of Graphite Using EA-IRMS System
δ13C values in non-irradiated natural graphite were measured. The measurements were carried out using an elemental analyzer combined with stable isotope ratio mass spectrometer (EA-IRMS). The samples were prepared with ground and non-ground graphite, the

The Interstellar Rubidium Isotope Ratio toward Rho Ophiuchi A
The isotope ratio, 85Rb/87Rb, places constraints on models of the nucleosynthesis of heavy elements, but there is no precise determination of the ratio for material beyond the Solar System.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

A more stringent constraint on the mass ratio of binary neutron star merger GW170817
Recently, the LIGO-Virgo collaboration reported their first detection of gravitational wave (GW) signals from a low mass compact binary merger GW170817, which is most likely due to a double neutron star (NS) merger.

Compressibility of biological systems: the viscoelastic Poisson’s ratio [PDF]
Soft tissues carry out their vital biological functions within a dynamic mechanical framework that can be extended or compressed. Externally or internally applied uni-axial or biaxial changes induce longitudinal strains that can be of either sign. The complex interrelationship between applied strain and induced strain is quantified by a time-space ...

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
