Strehl ratio for optical systems with ultrafast illumination

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
We study ultrafast laser pulse properties as they propagate through optical systems. A modified definition of Strehl ratio is used to quantify the chromatic and temporal behavior of ultrafast laser pulses at the optical focus. We propose this parameter as a figure of merit for the design and analysis of optical systems with ultrafast illumination.

Spacing ratios in mixed-type systems

open access: yesPhysical Review E
The distribution of the consecutive level-spacing ratio is now widely used as a tool to distinguish integrable from chaotic quantum spectra, mostly due to its avoidance of the numerical spectral unfolding. Like the use of the Rosenzweig-Porter approach to obtain the Berry-Robnik distribution of level spacings in mixed-type systems, in this paper, we ...

General Properties of Contact Binary System for Mass Ratio Distribution [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1999
With a total 761 contact binary systems in Svechnikov & Kuznetsova(1990)'s cat- alogue, their physical properties by the mass ratio are inverstigated - for the early CE type with a common radiative envelope and the late CW type with a common convective ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

An intelligent genetic algorithm for PAPR reduction in a multi-carrier CDMA wireless system

open access: yes, 2008
— A novel intelligent genetic algorithm (GA), called Minimum Distance guided GA (MDGA) is proposed for peak-average-power ratio (PAPR) reduction based on partial transmit sequence (PTS) scheme in a synchronous Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
