Completeness of Normal Rational Curves [PDF]
A \(k\)-arc in \(\mathrm{PG}(n,q)\), the \(n\)-dimensional projective space over \(\mathrm{GF}(q)\), is a set \(K\) of \(k\) points of \(\mathrm{PG}(n,q)\), \(k\geq n+1\), with the property that no \(n+1\) points of \(K\) lie in a hyperplane. A normal rational curve in \(\mathrm{PG}(n,q)\), \(2\leq n\leq q-2\), is a \((q+1)\)-arc that is projectively ...

On special rational curves in Grassmannians [PDF]
We characterize, among all rational curves in the grassmannian G(d, 2d), those which are GL(2d)-equivalent to the canonical morphism induced by the Morita equivalence C-Mod -> M(d)-Mod.

Neural-Network-Based Curve Fitting Using Totally Positive Rational Bases
This paper proposes a method for learning the process of curve fitting through a general class of totally positive rational bases. The approximation is achieved by finding suitable weights and control points to fit the given set of data points using a ...

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Rational and singular points of a family of curves
This paper explores the properties of a family of absolutely irreducible projective plane curves, denoted Ca,b, which are defined over a finite field Fm of characteristic 2.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Data fitting by G1 rational cubic Bézier curves using harmony search
A metaheuristic algorithm, called Harmony Search (HS) is implemented for data fitting by rational cubic Bézier curves. HS is a derivative-free real parameter optimization algorithm, and draws an inspiration from the musical improvisation process of ...
