Sex Representation in US Stroke Clinical Trials: A Decade of Trends and Challenges

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Stroke remains a major cause of disability and mortality in the US, with significant sex‐based disparities, and females remain underrepresented in stroke clinical trials. We aimed to examine sex representation in US‐based stroke clinical trials, identify trial characteristics associated with higher female enrollment (≥ 50%), and ...

Reperfusion‐Dependent Outcomes After Endovascular Thrombectomy Stratified by NIHSS‐ASPECTS Clinical‐Core Mismatch

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This analysis evaluates the effect of successful reperfusion on functional outcomes after MT, stratified by admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) as surrogates for clinical‐core mismatch, using multicenter registry data.

Two ways for solving a class of rational second-order difference equations

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
We consider a class of second-order rational difference equations with two parameters, and we show, in two ways, that the class of equations is solvable in closed form. One way is based on using an invariant for the class of equations, whereas the second

High Healthcare Utilization Preceding Diagnosis with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Though early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) patients often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize healthcare utilization in the year preceding diagnosis.

Trajectories of Physical Function in Canadian Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives We describe trajectories of physical function in children newly diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and identify trajectories with persisting functional impairments and associated baseline characteristics. Methods We included patients enrolled in the Canadian Alliance of Pediatric Rheumatology Investigators (CAPRI) Registry ...

On the Solutions of a System of Third-Order Rational Difference Equations

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2018
The structure of the solutions for the system nonlinear difference equations xn+1=ynyn-2/(xn-1+yn-2), yn+1=xnxn-2/(±yn-1±xn-2), n=0,1,…, is clarified in which the initial conditions x-2, x-1, x0, y-2, y-1, y0 are considered as arbitrary positive real ...

Finite-order meromorphic solutions and the discrete Painleve equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Let w(z) be a finite-order meromorphic solution of the second-order difference equation w(z+1)+w(z-1) = R(z,w(z)) (eqn 1) where R(z,w(z)) is rational in w(z) and meromorphic in z. Then either w(z) satisfies a difference linear or Riccati equation or else

Unboundedness Results for Rational Difference Equations

open access: yes, 2020
We present a collection of techniques for demonstrating the existence of unbounded solutions. We then use these techniques to determine the boundedness character of rational difference equations and systems of rational difference equations. We study the rational difference equation [Math formulas unable to be displayed here, refer to PDF] Particularly,

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Generalized Hitchin systems on rational surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
By analogy with work of Hitchin on integrable systems, we construct natural relaxations of several kinds of moduli spaces of difference equations, with special attention to a particular class of difference equations on an elliptic curve (arising in the ...
