Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

On the behavior of fiscal policy with costly expectations

open access: yesEconómica, 2009
This paper extends the Talvi and Végh (2005) model on the behavior of fiscal policy, introducing agent-based issues. Like in Talvi and Végh (2005), the theoretical framework is à la Barro (1979), but rational expectations are costly.

The existence of rational expectations equilibrium: a retrospective [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides a selective review of theoretical research on the consistency of rational expectations equilibrium and its properties in microeconomic models. The general equilibrium framework is emphasized throughout the paper.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Rational expectations business cycle models: a survey [PDF]

open access: yes
Development of rational expectations models of the business cycle has been the central issue in macroeconomics over the last 15 years. The postulate that expectations are rational imposes considerable discipline on business cycle analysis.

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

[18F]Fluorodeprenyl‐D2 PET as a Tool to Monitor Disease Activity in GAD65‐Ab Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods [18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...
