Covering rational ruled surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 2017
We present an algorithm that covers any given rational ruled surface with two rational parametrizations. In addition, we present an algorithm that transforms any rational surface parametrization into a new rational surface parametrization without affine base points and such that the degree of the corresponding maps is preserved.

A phantom on a rational surface

open access: yesInventiones mathematicae, 2023
AbstractWe construct a non-full exceptional collection of maximal length consisting of line bundles on the blow-up of the projective plane in 10 general points. As a consequence, the orthogonal complement of this collection is a universal phantom category. This provides a counterexample to a conjecture of Kuznetsov and to a conjecture of Orlov.

On the Affine Image of a Rational Surface of Revolution

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
We study the properties of the image of a rational surface of revolution under a nonsingular affine mapping. We prove that this image has a notable property, namely that all the affine normal lines, a concept that appears in the context of affine ...

Positivity and Monotonicity Preserving Biquartic Rational Interpolation Spline Surface [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
A biquartic rational interpolation spline surface over rectangular domain is constructed in this paper, which includes the classical bicubic Coons surface as a special case.

Coble rational surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Mathematics, 2001
A Coble surface is a smooth rational projective surface such that its anti-canonical linear system is empty while the anti-bicanonical linear system is nonempty. In this paper we shall classify Coble surfaces and consider the finiteness problem of the number of negative rational curves on it modulo automorphisms.

Rational surfaces with linear normals and their convolutions with rational surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Aided Geometric Design, 2006
The authors discuss geometric properties of polynomial (or rational) parametrized surfaces with linear fields of normal vectors. It is shown that these are projectively dual to graphs of bivariate polynomials (or rational functions). This dual representation is applied to prove that the convolution of rational surfaces with linear normal vector fields ...

Blending Cylinders and Cones using Canal Surfaces

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2000
There is reviewed the construction of a rational blending surface between cylinders and cones in some interlocation cases. This surface is constructed as a patch of rolling ball envelope, i.e.
