Cocaine self-administration and locomotor activity are altered in Lewis and F344 inbred rats by RTI 336, a 3-phenyltropane analog that binds to the dopamine transporter

Brain Research, 2005
Lewis and Fischer 344 (F344) rats differ in responses to cocaine and characteristics of the mesolimbic dopamine system. Compared to F344 rats, Lewis rats have lower D2 receptor and dopamine transporter (DAT) levels in nucleus accumbens (NAc). We showed previously that altering D1 and D2 receptor levels pharmacologically had strain-dependent effects on ...

The LEXF: A new set of rat recombinant inbred strains between LE/Stm and F344

Mammalian Genome, 1997
A new set of rat RI strains consisting of 11 independent strains and 13 of their substrains was established by inbreeding F2 rats between F344/DuCrj and LE/Stm. The strain distribution pattern was examined for 66 microsatellite loci, 8 biochemical genetic markers, 2 histocompatibility loci, and 2 coat color genes.

Carcinogenicity of butylated hydroxyanisole in F344 rats.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1983
Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) was added at levels of 0.5 and 2.0% to the diet of inbred F344 rats for 2 years. The higher dose of BHA induced a significant increase in the incidence of papilloma and squamous cell carcinoma in both sexes. Both the higher

Net energy effects of dietary fat on chemically induced mammary carcinogenesis in F344 rats.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1986
The effect of net energy, as distinct from kilocalorie intake or the percent of fat in the diet, on 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene [(DMBA) CAS: 57-97-6]-induced mammary tumorigenesis in female inbred F344 rats was investigated.

Dose-response studies on the carcinogenicity of potassium bromate in F344 rats after long-term oral administration.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1986
Dose-response studies on the carcinogenicity of potassium bromate (KBrO3), a food additive, were undertaken to examine its effects at low doses. A total of 148 6-week-old male inbred F344 rats were divided into 7 groups.

Effect of dietary alfalfa, pectin, and wheat bran on azoxymethane-or methylnitrosourea-induced colon carcinogenesis in F344 rats.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1979
The effect of dietary alfalfa, pectin, and wheat bran on colon carcinogenesis was studied in female inbred F344 rats. Weanling rats were fed semipurified diets containing 0 or 15% alfalfa, pectin, or wheat bran.

Effects of butylated hydroxyanisole, butylated hydroxytoluene, and NaCl on gastric carcinogenesis initiated with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine in F344 rats.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1984
Promoting activities of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and NaCl and of combinations of these antioxidants with NaCl on gastric carcinogenesis initiated by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine [(MNNG) (CAS: 70-25-7; 1 ...

Effect of a diet with high levels of protein and fat on colon carcinogenesis in F344 rats treated with 1,2-dimethylhydrazine.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1976
Female inbred F344 rats fed diets containing high levels of beef protein and fat or high levels of soybean protein and corn oil and treated with 1,2-dimethylhydrazine had a greater incidence of colon tumours than did rats fed diets that had normal levels

Neoplastic response of F344 rats and B6C3F1 mice to the polymer and dyestuff intermediates 4,4'-methylenebis(N,N-dimethyl)-benzenamine, 4,4'-oxydianiline, and 4,4'-methylenedianiline.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1984
Feeding 4,4'-methylenebis(N,N-dimethyl)benzenamine [CAS: 101-61-1; 4,4'-methylenebis(N,N-dimethylaniline)] to inbred F344 rats increased the incidence of thyroid lesions (hyperplasia, adenomas, and carcinomas) in both sexes, especially in the female rats.

Effect of dietary corn bran and autohydrolyzed lignin on 3,2'-dimethyl-4-aminobiphenyl-induced intestinal carcinogenesis in male F344 rats.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1983
The effect of dietary corn bran and autohydrolyzed lignin on 3,2'-dimethyl-4-aminobiphenyl (DMAB)-induced intestinal carcinogenesis was studied in male inbred F344 rats. Groups of weanling rats were fed semipurified diets containing 15% corn bran or 7.5%
