Changes in immune cell frequencies in primary and secondary lymphatic organs of LEW.1AR1-iddm rats, a model of human type 1 diabetes compared to other MHC congenic LEW inbred strains

Immunologic Research, 2018
The LEW.1AR1-iddm rat is an animal model of human type 1 diabetes, which arose through a spontaneous mutation in the Dock8 gene within the MHC congenic background strain LEW.1AR1. This mutation not only mediates diabetes development but also leads to a variable T cell frequency in peripheral blood.

Congenital Hydrocephalus Revealed in the Inbred Rat, LEW/Jms

Neurosurgery, 1983
We studied the development of congenital hydrocephalus found in a colony of an inbred strain of Wistar-Lewis rats (LEW/Jms) at various intervals after birth. The disorder was transmitted as a simple recessive mendelian character. Hydrocephalic neonates were recognized 2 days after birth by stretching of the skin over the head.

Prenatal aqueductal stenosis as a cuase of congenital hydrocephalus in the inbred at LEW/Jms

Child's Nervous System, 1991
We studied the microscopic morphological changes in congenital hydrocephalus in the inbred rat, LEW/Jms, on gestational days 17, 18, and 20 and during the neonatal period to clarify the etiopathogenesis, focusing particularly on the aqueductal changes. At 1 day of age, ventriculomegaly was limited to the lateral and III ventricles, and the aqueduct was

The Etiology of the Congenital Hydrocephalus in the Inbred Rat LEW/Jms: Light microscopic study in the embryonic stage

1990
We studied the microscopic morphological changes on the congenital hydrocephalus in the inbred rat, LEW/Jms in the newborn and the gestational day 20, 18 and 17 to clarify the etiology especially focusing on the aqueductal change by sagittal section. At 1 day old, hydrocephalus was not clear by outer appearance, however, it was evident by sectioning ...

Changes in Cerebral Microvasculature in Congenital Hydrocephalus of the Inbred Rat LEW/Jms: Light and electron microscopic examination

Surgical Neurology, 1987
The vascular apparatus in congenitally hydrocephalic rat brains was studied. The characteristic findings were structural changes in the small vessels with formation of an intracerebral cavity in the periventricular white matter. Stenotic or occluded blood vessels were located in an edematous area adjacent to the dilated lateral ventricles.

A method of producing in inbred albino rats a high percentage of immunity from tumors native in their strain.

Journal of Immunology, 1946
During our studies on the extraction of substances from induced primary and transplanted rat sarcomata, we obtained a fat soluble fraction that in some instances brought about a sarcoma when injected into rats (Aptekman, King and Lewis '43) and also an

Characteristics of acute rejection model of DA to LEW orthotopic liver transplantation in inbred rats

, 2008
Objective To study the characteristics of liver transplantation models in inbred rats DA to LEW and judge the grades of acute rejection. Methods Surgical skills were trained by using closed colony SD and Wistar rats, followed by DA to LEW orthotopic ...

Morphological Study on Congenital Hydrocephalus of the Inbred Rat, LEW/Jms

1990
The morphological changes of the cerebral gray matter in congenital hydrocephalic rat were studied. Dilatation of the ventricle with thinned cerebral mantle was observed. The characteristic finding was the “intracerebral cavity formation” in the gray matter as well as in the cerebral white matter.
