Splenic Hemangiosarcoma in a Young Sprague-Dawley Rat

open access: yesJournal of Toxicologic Pathology, 2012
The present report describes a rare case of spontaneous hemangiosarcoma in a nine-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rat. At necropsy, multiple white nodules of various sizes were observed on and within the enlarged spleen and liver and were histopathologically determined to be composed of spindle- to oval-shaped cells that showed invasive growth without ...

A Nanoparticle‐Integrated Complete Manufacturing Pipeline of Chemically Engineered Exosomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a novel manufacture technology of chemically engineered exosomes. The four steps of manufacturing, i.e., biogenesis, loading, isolation, and storage, are integrated by the use of a nanoparticle. The manufacture technology incorporates three innovative components, i.e., a new nano‐bio effect, a new composite nanoparticle, and a new isolation ...

Female Sprague Dawley Rats Show Impaired Spatial Memory in the 8-Arm Radial Maze under Dim Blue and Red Light

open access: yesInternational Journal of Zoology, 2010
Light intensity and wavelength strongly influence mood and cognition in humans and rodent animal models. The aim of the present study was to explore if dim white (7.6–17.7 lux) , blue (1.3–2.3 lux), and red light (0.8–1.4 lux) affect spatial memory of ...

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Effect of 3β, hydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-28-oic acid on 7,12-Dimethylbenz(a) anthracene impaired cellular homeostasis in extrahepatic organs of Sprague Dawley rats

open access: yesJournal of Xenobiotics, 2017
3β, hydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-28-oic acid (Betulinic acid), a pentacyclic lupane-type triterpene has diverse pharmacological functions both in vitro and in vivo.

Strain specific effects of low level lead exposure on associative learning and memory in rats. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Exposure to lead (Pb) remains a significant public health concern. Lead exposure in early life impairs the normal development of numerous cognitive and neurobehavioral processes.

Heme‐NO Dilates Arteries via Mobilization of NO Moieties From an Intracellular NO Store Within Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

A novel Osteoarthritis scoring system to separate typical OA joint degeneration from non-typical lesions in male Sprague Dawley rats

open access: yesOsteoarthritis and Cartilage Open
Objective: To develop a novel scoring system to characterize osteoarthritis-related degeneration distinct from spontaneous subchondral bone lesions observed in the tibia and femur of male Sprague Dawley rats.

Tissue compatibility of poly(hydroxypropylglutamate)-prazosin conjugates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Biocompatibility of an injectable biodegradable drug delivery system for prazosin was investigated in Sprague-Dawley rats by histological studies after subcutaneous injection ofpoly(hydroxypropyl glutamate)-prazosin (PHPG-prazosin) conjugate particles ...
