Rattus norvegicus Rn was detected in natural habitats on three of the main islands and on Tsushima Island (Table 1, Figure 1). On Hokkaido, we found two trackways in March and observed one animal (Figure 5) in August in Kushiro Marsh, the largest remaining natural wetland in Japan.
