Kinetics of aflatoxin B1 and G2 adsorption on Ca-clinoptilolite [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2000
The kinetics of aflatoxins B1 and G2 adsorption on Ca-clinoptilolite at pH2 and 7, in aqueous electrolyte at 37°C were studied. For both aflatoxins, the adsorption process begins with a fast reaction whereby most of the toxin is adsorbed in the ...

Technological procedure for processing the quartz resources in order to obtain the assortment for water glass [PDF]

open access: yesMining and Metallurgy Engineering Bor, 2016
Tests on quartz raw material from the deposit 'Bijela Stijena - Skočić' have included: grading, washing, grinding and magnetic separation. Test results have shown that the assortment of required sand quality can be obtained for water glass.

Reconciliation of Conflicting Societal Objectives: Nature Protection vs. Mining

open access: yesMaterials Proceedings, 2023
Critical raw materials (CRMs) like lithium, cobalt, and copper are crucial for our modern economy, driving digitalisation and the energy transition. The EU-funded CIRAN project addresses the challenge of balancing environmental protection and the demand ...

Toxicological assessment of pristine and degraded forms of graphene functionalized with MnOx nanoparticles using human in vitro models representing different exposure routes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The development of novel advanced nanomaterials (NMs) with outstanding characteristics for their use in distinct applications needs to be accompanied by the generation of knowledge on their potential toxicological impact, in particular, that derived from

Investigation the calcite hydrophobisation of different grain sizes [PDF]

open access: yesMining and Metallurgy Engineering Bor, 2016
This paper presents the investigations of possibility of calcite hydrophobisation. Two samples of calcite of different size classes from the site 'Dobar kamen', Arandjelovac, Serbia, were used in the experimental work.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Flotation of blue water [PDF]

open access: yesMining and Metallurgy Engineering Bor, 2015
Flotation of ions and molecules represents a promising method of separating components from solution, or in our case, gelled copper salt from blue water.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
