Vicinity ray tracing: an alternative to dynamic ray tracing [PDF]
SUMMARY A method for computing seismic wavefields in a high-frequency approximation is proposed based on the integration of the kinematic ray tracing equations and a new set of differential equations for the dynamic properties of the wavefront, which we call the vicinity ray tracing (VRT) equations.

Polarization from the oscillating magnetized accretion torus
We study oscillations of accretion torus with azimuthal magnetic field. For several lowest-order modes we calculate eigenfrequencies and eigenfunctions and calculate corresponding intensity and polarization light curves using advanced ray-tracing methods.

Chaos-assisted nonresonant optical pumping of quadrupole-deformed microlasers
Efficient nonresonant optical pumping of a high-Q scar mode in a two-dimensional quadrupole-deformed microlaser has been demonstrated based on ray and wave chaos. Three-fold enhancement in the lasing power was achieved at a properly chosen pumping angle.
