Rayleigh-Ritz vibration analysis of Mindlin plates

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1980
Abstract The Rayleigh-Ritz method is applied to the prediction of the natural frequencies of flexural vibration of square plates having general boundary conditions. The analysis is based on the use of Mindlin plate theory so that the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia are included.

A moment equation reformulation of Rayleigh - Ritz theory

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1996
Summary: We present a moment equation Rayleigh-Ritz (RR) variational theory for the ground-state energy. An extended Fourier transform space can be defined through the moment equation corresponding to a given Schrödinger Hamiltonian. Within this extended space, we can implement a variational ansatz with respect to configurations of the form ...

Rayleigh-Ritz Method for Plate Flexure

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1967
A method is presented for obtaining two-dimensional plate element displacement functions which may allow continuity in any required derivative of the displacement parameter. These functions for slope and curvature continuity are used to obtain the load deflection characteristics of square plates simply supported or built-in along their edges.

Successive Approximations by the Rayleigh-Ritz Variation Method

Physical Review, 1933
Approximate eigenvalues given by the Rayleigh-Ritz variation method for handling linear differential equations are examined and relations are established between the discrete eigenvalues obtained in successive approximations. These relations should be of use in practical computations.

The Rayleigh-Ritz Method: A Graphical Proof

American Journal of Physics, 1969
We give a simple graphical proof for the Rayleigh-Ritz variational method for simultaneously obtaining upper bounds to the n lowest eigenvalues of a Hermitean operator.

Das Verfahren von Rayleigh‐Ritz mit hermiteschen Interpolationspolynomen

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1963

Collocation, Galerkin, and Rayleigh–Ritz Methods

2019
Weighted residual methods (WRM) (also called Petrov-Galerkin methods) provide simple and highly accurate solutions of BVPs. Collocation, Galerkin, and Rayleigh–Ritz methods are examples of the WRMs.
