S.864-5Internally bypassed star couplers allow bidirectional coherent communication at the same frequency via one subscriber line. For longer subscriber lines the serious limiting factor due to Rayleigh backscattering can be overcome by distributing the ...

Simultaneous harvest-and-transmit ambient backscatter communications under Rayleigh fading [PDF]

Open Source SDR Frontend and Measurements for 60-GHz Wireless Experimentation
This paper aims to make 60-GHz experimentation possible for a wider range of research groups. We do this by describing a low-cost front-end that can be used in combination with any baseband processing platform.

Rayleigh Backscattering Noise Alleviation in Long-Reach Ring-Based WDM Access Communication
In the paper, we propose and design a ring-topology wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) access network for long-reach signal transmission. Here, the new central office (CO) and optical network unit (ONU) modules are designed to construct the ring ...

Rayleigh backscattering in a fiber gyroscope with limited coherence sources [PDF]
Noise due to temporal fluctuations of Rayleigh baekscattered light in fiber-optical gyroscopes is studied experimentally with various sources whose coherence length is less than the fiber length. The reduction of the coherent fraction of backscattered light and its fluctuation frequencies with reduced source coherence is demonstrated and fit to an ...

Hybrid WDM FSO Fiber Access Network With Rayleigh Backscattering Noise Mitigation
In the paper, we present and investigate an integrated wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) free space optical (FSO) fiber access network for 51 km long-reach connection. Here, the proposed network architecture also can mitigate Rayleigh backscattering

25-GHz-Spaced DWDM-PON With Mitigated Rayleigh Backscattering and Back-Reflection Effects
A novel 25-GHz-spaced dense wavelength-division multiplexing passive optical network (DWDM-PON) is proposed to improve the utilization of wavelength resource and mitigate the Rayleigh backscattering (RB) and back-reflection effects.

Tunable Raman fiber laser induced by Rayleigh back-scattering in an ultra-long cavity [PDF]
We report an ultra-long Raman laser with a 46 km fiber length that behaved as a Rayleigh back-scattering–based optical feedback. The laser was tunable from 1550 nm to 1571 nm (3 dB bandwidth) with the insertion of an optical grating filter.
