Estimation of Vs profile using its natural frequency and Rayleigh-wave dispersion characteristics

open access: yes, 2008
International audienceThe evaluation of the natural frequency of random Vs profiles before analyzing the fundamental Rayleigh-wave dispersion characteristics is proposed in this paper. The inclusion of this parameter optimizes the effectiveness of random

Polarized Light Backscattering From Turbid Media: Why Do Rayleigh Scatterers Preserve Linear Polarization More Than Circular Polarization?

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Turbid media containing small‐sized Rayleigh‐regime scatterers present a ‘special case’ in which linearly polarized light is found to be less depolarized than circularly polarized light. The underlying mechanisms that give rise to this phenomenon are not yet understood.

Radial Anisotropy Beneath the Continental U.S. From Surface Wave Phase Velocities

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
We assemble the highest‐resolution data set of Love wave phase velocities measured across the continental U.S. to date, combining observations from ambient noise and teleseismic earthquakes to span a period range between 10 and 120 s.

Mid‐Infrared Quantum Scanning Microscopy via Visible Light Beyond Spatial Correlations

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work introduces a raster‐scanning approach based on quantum imaging with undetected light (QIUL) that probes samples in the mid‐infrared (MIR) spectral range while performing detection in the visible domain. Unlike previous QIUL implementations, this technique operates independently of photon‐pair spatial correlations and relies solely on induced ...
