What to Expect After a Commercial Fishery Ban? Long Term Fish Size and Biomass Trends in Two Productive Water Bodies With Contrasting Management Regimes

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Commercial fishing is often assumed to have greater impacts than recreational fishing, and many fisheries assessments overlook the latter. Yet, numerous coastal and freshwater fish populations are subject to both fishing types and environmental pressures, all influencing biomass, body size and community structure and making management outcomes

Red Blood Cell Glycation Triggers In Vivo Cerebral Erythrophagocytosis in Adult Zebrafish in a Model Mimicking Hemorrhagic Stroke

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 1, February 2026.
In zebrafish, glycated RBCs promoted increased erythrophagocytic activity in microglia/macrophages, revealing a potential mechanism linking diabetes‐induced RBC glycation to exacerbated inflammatory responses and secondary damage after ICH. ABSTRACT Hemorrhagic stroke, particularly intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), is a highly lethal subtype of stroke ...

Inactivation of the Phosphatase Activity of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Modulates SIRT3 and Attenuates Experimental Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 1, February 2026.
Genetic inactivation of the phosphatase activity of soluble epoxide hydrolase prevents the development of pulmonary hypertension in rats, partly through upregulation of SIRT3 expression and decreased cell proliferation and apoptosis‐related proteins. Targeting sEH‐P emerges as a promising therapeutic strategy for pulmonary hypertension.

Cytomegalovirus‐Based Viral Vectors Elicit Robust Systemic and Tissue‐Resident Immune Response Against SARS‐CoV‐2 Antigens

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.
We developed murine CMV‐based viral vectors expressing SARS‐CoV‐2 spike antigen and compared immune response following intraperitoneal and intranasal delivery. Route of vaccine administration shaped antibody and CD8+ T cell response magnitude, kinetics, and tissue residency, highlighting the potential of CMV vectors for induction of protective lung ...
