Characterization of hardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness of RB-SiC ceramics at elevated temperature by Vickers test [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Science and Engineering: A, 2019
In this paper, mechanical properties of RB-SiC ceramics, such as hardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness, are characterized through indentation technique using a Vickers indenter at elevated temperatures ranging from room temperature to1200 °C realized by laser heating.

Patient‐Mounted Neuro Optical Coherence Tomography for Targeted Minimally Invasive Micro‐Resolution Volumetric Imaging in Brain In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Herein, a patient‐mounted neuro optical coherence tomography system that integrates a 5 degrees‐of‐freedom skull‐mounted robot (Skullbot) with a 0.6 mm neuroendoscope for targeted, minimally invasive deep brain imaging, is developed. The system offers high‐resolution imaging with precise deployment, demonstrated through successful tumor imaging in a ...

Potassium Migration of Chestnut Shell Ashes Under Oxidizing Atmosphere and Its Modification Mechanism by Additives

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biomass energy plays a critical role in alleviating environmental pressures. However, its relatively high content of alkali metals (especially for potassium) would cause ash‐related issues during combustion. To mitigate these issues, the potassium migration behaviors during chestnut shell (CS) conversion and the modification mechanisms of ...

Geochemistry and mineralogy of wastes from lithium-bearing granite-pegmatite mining: resource potential and environmental risks

open access: yesFrontiers in Geochemistry
The global need for lithium (Li) is increasing due to its use in batteries which are used to make electric vehicles, wind turbines and fuel cells to facilitate the world’s ‘green transition’ to low carbon economies.

Three‐Layer‐Structured Garnet‐Dominant Composite Solid Electrolyte for Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
The three‐layer‐structured garnet‐dominant composite solid electrolyte (GD‐CSE) is designed for solid‐state batteries. The GD‐CSE is composed of over 80 wt. % contents of LGLZO. This three‐layer CSE has high ionic conductivity and high potential stability.

Acid Resistant and Highly Silver Selective Membranes Based on Charged Nanoporous 2D‐Materials

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
In this work, new membranes based on charged & nanoporous nanosheets with unprecedented selectivity to silver versus a wide range of other metallic ions are reported. Furthermore, a demonstrated and lead specific intralamellar lead pathway is demonstrated. A potential applicability for ubiquitous silver in WEEE is validated.
