Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Computational Modelling Strategies for Nonlinear Response Prediction of Corroded Circular RC Bridge Piers [PDF]
A numerical model is presented that enables simulation of the nonlinear flexural response of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) components. The model employs a force-based nonlinear fibre beam-column element. A new phenomenological uniaxial material model

We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Detection on debondings in FRP-strengthened reinforced concrete beams [PDF]
Advanced composite materials are increasingly used in the strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This strengthening method is often associated with a brittle and sudden failure caused by some form of FRP bond failure which may be ...

Influence of prestress level on NSM CFRP laminates for the flexural strengthening of RC beams [PDF]
This study presents an experimental program to evaluate the influence of the prestressing technique on the flexural behavior of reinforced-concrete (RC) beams strengthened with near-surface-mounted (NSM) carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer (CFRP) laminates ...

Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...

Development of hybrid composite plate (HCP) for the repair and strengthening of RC elements [PDF]
Hybrid Composite Plates (HCPs) made of a Strain Hardening Cementitious Composite (SHCC) and reinforced with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) materials are developed by taking the synergetic advantages of SHCC and CFRP for the retrofitting of ...

Interfacial fracture toughness of composite concrete beams [PDF]
A test for measuring the interfacial fracture toughness of a bi-material interface, essentially for concrete overlaid pavements was developed. The measured interfacial fracture toughness of steel fibre-reinforced, roller-compacted, polymer modified ...

Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of
