LGM glaciation in the northern Dinaric Mountains, Slovenia: new insights from terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide dating and Parallel Ice Sheet Model simulation

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The Dinaric Mountains are a mountain range stretching NW–SE from the Alps to the Albanides–Hellenides in central Europe. The highest parts were occupied by small ice fields and/or valley glaciers during the Quaternary cold periods, while even today some small glaciers still exist in topoclimatically favourable areas.

Surviving Males With PORCN Variants: Expanding the Clinical, Molecular, and Mechanistic Spectrum

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Pathogenic PORCN variants are compatible with male survival in both mosaic and non‐mosaic states, expanding the FDH/PONGOS spectrum and improving diagnosis and genetic counseling. ABSTRACT Pathogenic variants in PORCN cause focal dermal hypoplasia (FDH/Goltz syndrome), an X‐linked dominant disorder historically considered lethal in males, with milder ...

Genetic Architecture of Pediatric Cardiomyopathies Assessed by Whole‐Exome Sequencing: Insights Into Early‐Onset and Syndromic Forms

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Pediatric cardiomyopathies (CM) are a heterogeneous group of disorders. Their genetic basis remains poorly defined, particularly in children with early‐onset and apparently isolated forms. With a diagnostic yield of 62.7%, our findings suggest that whole‐exome sequencing could improve the diagnosis, genetic counseling, and clinical management of ...

In vivo differentiation of scarring alopecia using line‐field confocal optical coherence tomography: a pilot study

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Background and Objectives: Diagnosing cicatricial alopecia is challenging. Even with histology, a definitive diagnosis cannot always be made. Line‐field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC‐OCT), a non‐invasive imaging method with high resolution used in vivo, has proven helpful in diagnosing scarring alopecia.

S1 guideline sweat gland carcinoma

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary The current classification of sweat gland carcinomas is based on histomorphological characteristics and distinguishes between more than 20 entities. Most patients are older, but some subtypes also affect middle‐aged and younger patients. The majority of tumors arise de novo. Sweat gland carcinomas have nonspecific clinical features.

A lipid‐sensitive food choice behavior influences aging outcomes from a longevity‐promoting diet

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
C. elegans are exposed to a variety of bacteria in their natural environment and must be able to distinguish between beneficial and detrimental food sources. We show that C. elegans exposed to the bacterium from their natural habitat, Methylobacterium, disrupts lipid homeostasis, causing worms to avoid this bacterial species and choose the laboratory ...

Navigating Contested Spaces: Gendered Interactions in Everyday Entrepreneuring Among Jua Kali Women in Rural Kenya

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the daily experiences of Jua Kali women entrepreneurs in Western Kenya, unpacking how gendered power relations are enacted within informal marketplaces and how women entrepreneurs mobilize agency within these structurally and institutionally constrained contexts.

Reflectance Confocal Microscopy Integrated With Dermoscopy in a Real‐World Tertiary Referral Cohort: Diagnostic Agreement, Management Outcomes, and Number Needed to Excise in 1057 Lesions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Integrated dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) enabled real‐world lesion stratification, demonstrated significant diagnostic concordance, and supported melanoma detection and management in a tertiary referral cohort. ABSTRACT Background Accurate non‐invasive assessment of cutaneous lesions requires integration of diagnostic information
