Design of Luenberg State Observer Based Resolver to Digital Converter in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors for Position Accuracy

open access: yesGazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi, 2020
In this study, a motor position control is presented using output signals of a resolver sensor as feedback signals. The resolver sensor is used to obtain position data of the rotor angle. Energy efficiency of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM)

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Energy loss of the electron system in individual single-walled carbon nanotubes

open access: yes, 2010
We characterize the energy loss of the non-equilibrium electron system in individual metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes at low temperature. Using Johnson noise thermometry, we demonstrate that, for a nanotube with ohmic contacts, the dc resistance ...

A Personal Perspective on Metalloprotein Structure and the Future of Macromolecular X‐Ray Crystallography

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
While X‐ray crystallography has been the primary method for determining the structures of metalloproteins, cryoEM has taken over this role, illustrated by [4Fe4S]‐cluster containing proteins deposited in the Protein Data Bank. What will be the role for X‐ray crystallography as cryoEM and machine learning methods dominate the initial structural analysis?

Greater Cochlear Damage in Otogenic Versus Meningogenic Meningitis: Hearing Rehabilitation Implications

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Otogenic route of meningitis was associated with greater cochlear hair cell loss in comparison with the meningogenic one in this otopathology study. Neuronal depletion has been traditionally implicated in failed hearing rehabilitation of post‐meningitis deafness.

Search for Gravitational Wave Bursts from Soft Gamma Repeaters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present the results of a LIGO search for short-duration gravitational waves (GWs) associated with Soft Gamma Repeater (SGR) bursts. This is the first search sensitive to neutron star f-modes, usually considered the most efficient GW emitting modes. We
