Rethinking Regional Innovation Systems in the Age of De‐Globalisation

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, EarlyView.
Abstract Since a few years, the international economic system has been experiencing the risk of growing fragmentation and uncertainty. However, research on Regional Innovation Systems (RIS) has yet to comprehensively engage with this phenomenon, despite its (spatial) significance. The paper contributes to addressing this gap, in particular by exploring

Advancements and limitations of image‐enhanced endoscopy in colorectal lesion diagnosis and treatment selection: A narrative review

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer‐related mortality, highlighting the need for early detection and accurate lesion characterization. Traditional white‐light imaging has limitations in detecting lesions, particularly those with flat morphology or minimal color contrast with the surrounding mucosa.

Influence of Oxide and Silicate Melt Phases on the RDI of Iron Ore Pellets Suitable for Shaft Furnace of Direct Reduction Process

open access: yes, 2010
The temperature in iron ore pelletizing process is as high as 1300–1320°C, so that a significant amount of liquid slag forms in the pellets. The main components of the slag phases are SiO2, FeO, Al2O3, CaO and MgO in various proportions. The slag or melt

Effectiveness of Gel‐immersion Endoscopic Injection Sclerotherapy Under Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging for Esophageal Varices: A Comparison of Variceal Visibility Under Gel With White Light Imaging

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Gel‐immersion endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (GI‐EIS) addresses the technical challenges in intravariceal injection for esophageal varices (EVs). However, gel accumulation may obscure the variceal morphology. Thus, we developed GI‐EIS under texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) and evaluated its effectiveness.

Utility of Combined Indigo Carmine and Red Dichromatic Imaging for Pit Pattern Diagnosis in Colorectal Lesions: A Comparison with Crystal Violet

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
With indigo carmine alone, pits appear navy blue and the surrounding mucosa pale red, colors roughly 90° apart on the color wheel. In contrast, IC + RDI renders pits violet and mucosa yellowcomplementary colors positioned 180° apart. This stronger chromatic contrast enhances visual discrimination, improving visibility score (3.17 vs.

Electron–Matter Interactions During Electron Beam Nanopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 21, 12 March 2026.
This article reviews the electron–matter interactions important to nanopatterning with electron beam lithography (EBL). Electron–matter interactions, including secondary electron generation routes, polymer radiolysis, and electron beam induced charging, are discussed.

Burn‐Safe Biodegradable Magnetocaloric Composites for Temperature‐Controlled Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 15, 13 March 2026.
This work investigates a magnetocaloric (Mn,Fe)2(P,Si) compound tailored for precise, self‐regulating heating in biomedical use. With a Curie temperature tuned at 43 °C, it enables therapeutic activation without overheating. Encapsulation in a composite ensures controlled temperature rise under an alternating magnetic field (AMF), with high ...

Interaction of internal waves with the seafloor on the Namibian shelf (SE Atlantic Ocean): Implications for seafloor geomorphology

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 3, March 2026.
Over geological timescales, internal waves play a significant role in shaping the seafloor morphology. They generate nepheloid layers, slope‐parallel channels and escarpments with erosional surfaces. Abstract The long‐term impact of internal waves on sedimentation and seafloor geomorphology remains poorly constrained.
