Integrative taxonomy of Harveylithon (Corallinales, Rhodophyta) reveals three new species from Korea and expanded diversity in the northwestern Pacific

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐geniculate coralline genus Harveylithon includes 12 species worldwide. In this study, we propose three new species, Ha. koreanum sp. nov., Ha. longiforme sp. nov., and Ha. planiforme sp. nov., based on integrative molecular and morphological analyses.

Periodontitis and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes: Mechanistic Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aims to describe mechanisms linking periodontal diseases in pregnancy with adverse pregnancy outcomes. ABSTRACT Periodontal diseases, including both gingivitis and periodontitis, occur commonly among pregnant individuals. Both gingivitis and periodontitis are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) such as early ...

The 3D genome of Gigaspora margarita unveils stable chromatin and nucleolar organization and symbiont‐dependent genome dynamics

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are widespread plant symbionts that enhance nutrient acquisition and influence ecosystem productivity. Previous chromosome‐level assemblies of the model species Rhizophagus irregularis revealed a two‐compartment genome architecture (active A and repressed B chromatin compartments), yet its conservation across ...

Opening the black box: in situ imaging of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal structures in soil using synchrotron‐based micro‐CT

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) contribute to plant nutrient and water uptake via their extraradical hyphal networks. However, in situ methodologies to quantify architectural and morphological traits of these networks in soil are largely lacking, limiting our understanding of AMF‐mediated resource transport.

Hypermethylation at 45S rDNA promoter in cancers.

open access: yes
The ribosomal genes (rDNA genes) encode 47S rRNA which accounts for up to 80% of all cellular RNA. At any given time, no more than 50% of rDNA genes are actively transcribed, and the other half is silent by forming heterochromatin structures through DNA ...

Staurosporine Targets Mitochondrial Regulator VdAtuA3 to Disrupt Mitochondrial Homeostasis to Control Verticillium Wilt

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mitochondria serve as cellular powerhouses that generate ATP via electron transport chain complexes and orchestrate metabolism‐apoptosis cross‐talk, yet genes maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis remain underexplored as antifungal targets. In this study, a previously uncharacterised protein VdAtuA3 was identified as a novel interactor with ...
