Transcription and methylation of flax rDNA
The transcription of flax rDNA and the processing of the rRNA precursors is described. The location of methylated regions of the rDNA has been assayed, one of the least methylated regions maps close to the 5' end of the largest identified rRNA precursor.

Rapamycin increases rDNA stability by enhancing association of Sir2 with rDNA in Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
The target of rapamycin (TOR) kinase is an evolutionarily conserved key regulator of eukaryotic cell growth and proliferation. Recently, it has been reported that inhibition of TOR signaling pathway can delay aging and extend lifespan in several eukaryotic organisms, but how lifespan extension is mediated by inhibition of TOR signaling is poorly ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Candida albicans repetitive elements display epigenetic diversity and plasticity [PDF]
Transcriptionally silent heterochromatin is associated with repetitive DNA. It is poorly understood whether and how heterochromatin differs between different organisms and whether its structure can be remodelled in response to environmental signals. Here,

We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Microvariation artifacts introduced by PCR and cloning of closely related 16S rRNA gene sequences
A defined template mixture of seven closely related 16S-rDNA clones was used in a PCR-cloning experiment to assess and track sources of artifactual sequence variation in 16S rDNA clone libraries. At least 14% of the recovered clones contained aberrations.

ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...

Silver-negative NORs in Pamphagus ortolaniae (Orthoptera: Pamphagidae)
The present paper reports some cytogenetic peculiarities observed in the Ag-NORs of Pamphagus ortolaniae chromosomes, the unusual behaviour of ribosomal sites after silver staining and the intense Ag-positive reaction of centromeric regions at ...
