Optimal Process Design of Onboard Bog Partial Re-Liquefaction System for 170k LNG Carrier

open access: yesVolume 1: Offshore Technology, 2017
LNG carriers contain LNG at the cryogenic temperature of below −162°C and slightly above the atmospheric pressure. Although the LNG cargo tanks are well insulated, still the heat leak from the atmosphere and BOG (Boil-Off Gas) generation is inevitable. The re-liquefaction system was devised to prevent this loss of BOG by liquefaction of BOG to LNG.

Integrated design evaluation of propulsion, electric power, and re-liquefaction system for large-scale liquefied hydrogen tanker

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2022
Abstract This study proposes the integrated designs of energy systems and a re-liquefaction system for ocean-going LH2 tankers. Five prospective energy systems (Systems A to E) are suggested, using LNG as fuel, and a re-liquefaction system with a Claude cycle is developed.

Enhancement of energy performance in a boil-off gas re-liquefaction system of LNG carriers using ejectors

Energy Conversion and Management, 2016
Abstract An ejector-enhanced Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) boil-off gas (BOG) re-liquefaction system is proposed to improve the energy efficiency of the existing system. In the new system, two ejectors are respectively used to reduce the energy loss in the expansion of the pressurized BOG and inject a part of fuel BOG into the compression system, and a

A new boil-off gas re-liquefaction system for LNG carriers based on dual mixed refrigerant cycle

Cryogenics, 2018
Abstract A new boil-off gas (BOG) re-liquefaction system for LNG carriers has been proposed to improve the system energy efficiency. Two cascade mixed refrigerant cycles (or dual mixed refrigerant cycle, DMR) are used to provide the cooling capacity for the re-liquefaction of BOG.

Effects of impurities on re-liquefaction system of liquefied CO2 transport ship for CCS

International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, 2015
Abstract For EOR and EGR in the CCS, CO2 must be captured from large-scale CO2 emission sources like power plants, and transported to depleting oil and gas wells to maintain the reservoir pressure and enhance the recovery rate. To achieve this, CO2 should be transported over long distances from the emission sources of developed countries to oil and ...

Thermodynamic analysis of hydrocarbon refrigerants-based ethylene BOG re-liquefaction system

Journal of Marine Science and Application, 2016
The present study aims to make a thermodynamic analysis of an ethylene cascade re-liquefaction system that consists of the following two subsystems: a liquefaction cycle using ethylene as the working fluid and a refrigeration cycle operating with a hydrocarbon refrigerant.

Basic Design of 36 MTD Class Natural Gas BOG Re-Liquefaction System

Transactions of the KSME C: Industrial Technology and Innovation, 2013
. Abstract : In this paper, we carried out the basic design of 36 MTD natural gas BOG re-liquefaction system to recover the generated natural gas during performance test of LNG pump and natural gas compressor. The re-liquefaction process of natural gas is designed to have 1500 kg/h of liquefaction rate with reverse Brayton refrigeration cycle. With the
