The Age and Sedimentary Environment of the Kunyang Phosphate Deposit, Central Yunnan: Constraints from Re-Os Isotopes

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2018
BACKGROUND The Kunyang phosphate deposit in central Yunnan is the largest marine sedimentary phosphorite deposit in China. The deposit is hosted in black shale of the Lower Cambrian Meishucun Formation.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Dating Early Archean partial melting events: insights from Re-Os dating of micrometric Os-minerals from Kalahari Craton mantle xenoliths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Our understanding on the formation, mechanism and timing of the formation of the Earth’s earliest continents hinges on obtaining robust and accurate ages of melt depletion and lithosphere stabilisation.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Connecting and dating with tephras: principles, functioning, and application of tephrochronology in Quaternary research

open access: yes, 2015
Tephrochronology, the characterisation and use of volcanic-ash layers as a unique chronostratigraphic linking, synchronizing, and dating tool, has become a globally-practised discipline of immense practical value in a wide range of subjects including ...

160 Ma of magmatic/hydrothermal and metamorphic activity in the Gällivare area: Re-Os dating of molybdenite and U-Pb dating of titanite from the Aitik Cu-Au-Ag deposit, northern Sweden

open access: yes, 2005
Host rocks to the Aitik Cu-Au-Ag deposit in northern Sweden are strongly altered and deformed Early Proterozoic mica(-amphibole) schists and gneisses. The deposit is characterised by numerous mineralisation styles, vein and alteration types. Four samples

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.
