Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Uncertainty leads to persistent effects on reach representations in dorsal premotor cortex

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Every movement we make represents one of many possible actions. In reaching tasks with multiple targets, dorsal premotor cortex (PMd) appears to represent all possible actions simultaneously. However, in many situations we are not presented with explicit

A new neurocognitive interpretation of shoulder position sense during reaching: unexpected competence in the measurement of extracorporeal space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background. The position sense of the shoulder joint is important during reaching. Objective. To examine the existence of additional competence of the shoulder with regard to the ability to measure extracorporeal space, through a novel approach, using ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Effects of Hand and Hemispace on Multisensory Integration of Hand Position and Visual Feedback

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
The brain generally integrates a multitude of sensory signals to form a unified percept. Even in cursor control tasks, such as reaching while looking at rotated visual feedback on a monitor, visual information on cursor position and proprioceptive ...

An SVD approach to reaching tasks based on cartesian geodesics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We are interested in human motion characterization and automatic motion simulation. The apparent redundancy of the humanoid w.r.t its explicit tasks lead to the problem of choosing a plausible movement in the framework of redundant kinematics.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Stereoscopic objects affect reaching performance in virtual reality environments: influence of age on motor control

open access: yesFrontiers in Virtual Reality
Although the stereoscopic effect in 3D virtual reality (VR) space has been studied, its influence on motor performance, specifically how stereoscopic objects affect behavioral outcomes like reaching, remains unclear.

Multi-sensory weights depend on contextual noise in reference frame transformations

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2010
During reach planning, we integrate multiple senses to estimate the location of the hand and the target, which is used to generate a movement. Visual and proprioceptive information are combined to determine the location of the hand.

Reaching Inflation Stability [PDF]

open access: yes
Inflation volatility has significantly declined over the last 20 years in the U.S. To find out why, I follow a structural approach. I estimate a complete New Keynesian model which imposes cross-equation restrictions on the time series of inflation, the ...
