Mutual effect of vibrational relaxation and chemical reactions in viscous multitemperature flows

Physical Review E, 2016
We study coupling of vibrational relaxation and chemical reactions in nonequilibrium viscous multitemperature flows. A general theoretical model is proposed on the basis of the Chapman-Enskog method modified for strongly nonequilibrium reacting flows; the model differs from models commonly used in computational fluid dynamics since it is able to ...

Diffusion and Heterogeneous Reaction. IV. Effects of Gas-Phase Reaction and Convective Flow

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1961
The kinetics of atom recombination by homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction are examined. The analysis includes the combined effects of first-order surface reaction and third-order gas-phase reaction in a system undergoing diffusive and convective flow.

Effect of Chemical Reaction Rates on Aeroheating Predictions of Reentry Flows

Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 2010
The present work deals with the sensitivity of aero-heating predictions to variations in chemical reaction rates in high enthalpy flows over re-entry capsules. With in this scope, numerical simulations are performed by varying the reaction rate constants over their uncertainty range. FIRE II re-entry capsule at 35 km altitude is chosen as the test case.

Crowding, Intermolecular Interactions, and Shear Flow Effects in the Diffusion Model of Chemical Reactions

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2011
In the diffusion model of chemical reactions, the encounter (reaction) rate between reactant particles is governed by the Smoluchowski equation, which is a diffusion equation in a field of forces. We consider crowded environments where the particles diffuse through a "liquid" of like particles. Assuming that the liquid-like short-range structure around

The jet mixing effect on reaction flow in a bluff-body burner

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1994
Abstract This study investigates the mixing effects of primary and secondary jets on flame stability as fuel/air is injected into a bluff-body burner. A two-dimensional spray combustion model, based upon a SIMPLER method, is used for numerical studies of combusting flow.

The Effect of Viscous Dissipation and Chemical Reaction on the Flow of MHD Nanofluid

Journal of Advanced Research in Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences, 2023
A numerical investigation is performed for the MHD viscous nanofluid due to convective stretching. Heat and mass transfer are investigated for steady, viscous dissipations and chemical reactions. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into an arrangement of the non-linear ordinary differential equations by using the similarity ...

Effects of homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions in flow of Powell-Eyring fluid

Journal of Central South University, 2015
The steady two-dimensional flow of Powell-Eyring fluid is investigated. The flow is caused by a stretching surface with homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. The governing nonlinear differential equations are reduced to the ordinary differential equations by similarity transformations.

The effect of flow rate on the oscillatory activation energy of an oscillating reaction

Chemical Physics Letters, 2017
Abstract The simultaneous influence of temperature and flow rate (k0) in the oscillatory regime of the bromate-oxalic acid-acetone-Ce(III) oscillating reaction was investigated. The influence of temperature was evaluated in terms of the oscillatory activation energy (Eω), which was determined at different flow rates.

Effect of chemical reactions and melting heat on the dynamics of maxwell nanofluid flow

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik
AbstractThis study investigates the electrically conducting Maxwell fluid flow over a stretching sheet with the effects of homogeneous‐heterogeneous chemical reactions, thermal radiation, and melting heat. The nanomaterial characteristics are analyzed considering Brownian motion and thermophoresis (Buongiorno's model).

Effect of laminar chaos on reaction and dispersion in eccentric annular flow

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1996
Generalized Taylor dispersion theory is used to study the chaotic laminar transport of a reactive solute between eccentric rotating cylinders in the presence of an inhomogeneous chemical reaction. The circumstance considered is that of laminar axial ‘Poiseuille’ flow in the annular region between the two non-concentric cylinders, accompanied by a ...
