Effectiveness of Reaction Control System in Hypersonic Rarefied Reactive Flow

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2022
The present study completes the simulation of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense–like missile’s lateral jet flowfield at a rarefied high-altitude atmosphere using the in-house parallel direct si...

Effective dimensions and chemical reactions in fluid flows

Physical Review E, 2007
We show that chemical activity in hydrodynamical flows can be understood as the outcome of three basic effects: the stirring protocol of the flow, the local properties of the reaction, and the global folding dynamics which also depends on the geometry of the container.

Flow effects in the polymer cyclization reaction

Macromolecular Theory and Simulations, 1997
AbstractWe investigate the effect of shear and uniaxial extensional flows on the rate of the cyclization reaction in polymers. We find that for such an intramolecular diffusion‐controlled reaction the flow always reduces the reaction rate, in contrast to the previously studied case of intermolecular reactions, where linear flows enhance the reaction ...

Effects of Transport on Reactions in Homogeneous Tubular Flow

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2006
Numerical solutions have been carried out for representative conditions in a tubular reactor in fully developed laminar and turbulent flow. The computations are unique in two respects. First, they take into account the radial transport of both species and energy by molecular and turbulent fluctuations for the combination of energetic reactions and heat

Micromixing effects on a parallel reaction in flow reactors

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 1993
AbstractUsing the micromixing concepts of Danckwerts and Zwietering, the Peclet number Pe has been correlated mathematically to the degree of segregation J for the axial dispersion model. The results were applied to compare the micromixing effects on a model, mixed‐order parallel reaction system in continuous flow reactors.
