Numerical investigation on MHD micropolar fluid flow toward a stagnation point on a vertical surface with heat source and chemical reaction

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2017
In this paper, the steady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection stagnation point flow of an incompressible and electrically conducting micropolar fluid past a vertical flat plate is investigated.

Turbulent front speed in the Fisher equation: dependence on Damkohler number

open access: yes, 2010
Direct numerical simulations and mean-field theory are used to model reactive front propagation in a turbulent medium. In the mean-field approach, memory effects of turbulent diffusion are taken into account to estimate the front speed in cases when the ...

Effects of heat release on triple flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Heat release effects on laminar flame propagation in partially premixed flows are studied. Data for analysis are obtained from direct numerical simulations of a laminar mixing layer with a uniformly approaching velocity field.

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Chemical reaction and radiation effects on the transient MHD free convection flow of dissipative fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate with ramped wall temperature [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2011
A finite-difference analysis is performed to study the effects of thermal radiation and chemical reaction on the transient MHD free convection and mass transform flow of a dissipative fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate subject to ramped wall ...

Irreversibility analysis in Darcy-Forchheimer flow of viscous fluid with Dufour and Soret effects via finite difference method

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Background and objective: Here irreversibility analysis in unsteady Darcy-Forchheimer flow of viscous fluid by a stretched sheet is examined. Lorentz force effect is considered.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Thermal Radiation and Chemical Reaction Effects on Unsteady Magnetohydrodynamic Third Grade Fluid Flow Between Stationary and Oscillating Plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2019
An analysis was carried out for an unsteady magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) flow of a generalized third grade fluid between two parallel plates. The fluid flow is a result of the plate oscillating, moving and pressure gradient.

A thermodynamical model for population growth with relaxation phenomena

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2022
Reaction-diffusion models were used in dynamic fluid, population growth, pulse propagation in nerves and other biological phenomena. Some of these models have been expanded to describe memory effects in diffusion and therefore with the use of hyperbolic ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
