The Mechanisms of the Stille Reaction

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2004
AbstractEighteen years ago in Angewandte Chemie John K. Stille reviewed a novel methodology, which eventually became known by his name, for the coupling of organostannanes with organic electrophiles. Since then that seed has blossomed into a multifaceted methodology full of hidden possibilities to explore, discover, and enjoy. Very recent modifications

Mechanism of the Dihydroorotase Reaction

Biochemistry, 2004
Dihydroorotase (DHO) is a zinc metalloenzyme that functions in the pathway for the biosynthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides by catalyzing the reversible interconversion of carbamoyl aspartate and dihydroorotate. A chemical mechanism was proposed on the basis of an analysis of the effects of pH, metal substitution, solvent isotope effects, mutant proteins,

Prenyltransferase: the mechanism of the reaction

Biochemistry, 1976
The enzyme, prenyltransferase, which normally catalyzes the addition of an allylic pyrophosphate to isopentenyl pyrophosphate, has been found to catalyze the hydrolysis of its allylic substrate. The rate of this hydrolysis is markedly stimulated by inorganic pyrophosphate.

Reaction mechanisms: polar reactions

Annual Reports Section "B" (Organic Chemistry), 2012
Highlights of mechanistic work pertaining to polar reactions published in 2012 are provided in this report. Such reactions cover a wide range of biologically, chemically and industrially-relevant processes, and although they have been broadly classified here, a number could span one or more general categories.

Reaction mechanisms: pericyclic reactions

Annual Reports Section "B" (Organic Chemistry), 2011
This report surveys the 2010 literature on mechanisms of pericyclic reactions. Among the newer concepts highlighted in this year's studies are the distortion-interaction model of reactivity, the importance of CH-π interactions in controlling selectivity, and the catalysis of pericyclic reactions by transition metals and organocatalysts.

Reaction mechanisms: pericyclic reactions

Annual Reports Section "B" (Organic Chemistry), 2012
This review summarizes a number of articles published in 2011 describing mechanisms of pericyclic reactions. The types of reactions studied were of the cycloaddition sort (e.g., [2+1], [2+2], [3+2], [4+2], etc.), as well as sigmatropic (e.g., [1,2], [1,3], [3,3] shifts, etc.), group transfer (e.g., ene), and electrocyclic types.

Mechanism of Oligomerization Reactions of Silica

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006
The mechanism of the oligomerization reaction of silica, the initial step of silica formation, has been studied by quantum chemical techniques. The solvent effect is included by using the COSMO model. The formation of various oligomers (from dimer to tetramer) was investigated.

On the mechanism of the Dakin–West reaction

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2012
The mechanism of the Dakin-West reaction has been thoroughly investigated by monitoring the reaction using ESI-MS/MS techniques in combination with M06-2X/6-311++G(d,p) calculations. Several of the key intermediates in the previously proposed "azlactone" mechanism have been experimentally detected and characterized.

Mechanism of Delayed Reactions

Science, 1967
Arsanilic acid conjugates of polymers of L-typrosine, glutamic acid, and alanine are immunogenic and can elicit hapten-specific, delayed-hypersensitivity reactions in sensitized guinea pigs. Conjugates of the D-amino acid polymers are neither immunogenic nor capable of eliciting delayed reactions.
