Mechanisms of metasomatic reactions [PDF]

open access: yesMineralogy and Petrology, 2009
Fluid-aided mass transfer and subsequent mineralre-equilibrationarethetwodefiningfeaturesofmetasomatismand must be present in order for metamorphism to occur.Taking into account geological time scales, the amount offluidrequiredneednotbegreat(considerablylessthan0.01%of the total volume) nor even in continuous flow but the fluidmust be chemically ...

OntoKin: An Ontology for Chemical Kinetic Reaction Mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2019
An ontology for capturing both data and the semantics of chemical kinetic reaction mechanisms has been developed. Such mechanisms can be applied to simulate and understand the behaviour of chemical processes, for example, the emission of pollutants from ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

The role of response mechanisms in determining reaction time performance: Piéron’s Law revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A response mechanism takes evaluations of the importance of potential actions and selects the most suitable. Response mechanism function is a nontrivial problem that has not received the attention it deserves within cognitive psychology. In this article,

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

PyFrag 2019—Automating the exploration and analysis of reaction mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, 2019
We present a substantial update to the PyFrag 2008 program, which was originally designed to perform a fragment‐based activation strain analysis along a provided potential energy surface. The original PyFrag 2008 workflow facilitated the characterization

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

The First Reaction Steps of Lithium-Mediated Ammonia Synthesis: Ab Initio Simulation

open access: yesNitrogen, 2022
The reaction of molecular nitrogen with molecular hydrogen was simulated using ab initio molecular dynamics. The reaction was catalyzed by the addition of bulk lithium and oxygen.

Mechanisms of flavoprotein‐catalyzed reactions [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1989
Flavoproteins are a class of enzymes catalyzing a very broad spectrum of redox processes by different chemical mechanisms. This review describes the best studied of these mechanisms and discusses factors possibly governing reactivity and specificity.
