Field assisted (reactive) sintering of Fe2VAl thermoelectric compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The P/M routes form attractive and promising alternatives to the classical metallurgical route. Near full density specimens were obtained by field assisted sintering a commercial "Fe2VAl" grade and Fe-V-Al powders obtained by milling cast ingots but also

Influence of the sol-gel method on a NiO/Al2O3 catalyst for CH4/O-2 to syngas reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
NiO/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by the impregnation and the sol-gel method. The sintering and loss of nickel, carbon deposition and 80 h life-test for POM reaction over the catalyst were investigated by a now-reactor and by XPS, TG, EXAFS and AAS

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Reaction Sintering of Aluminum Nitride.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1994
Aluminum nitride blocks were prepared by the usual method of powder metallurgy. The raw material is of ultrafine aluminum particles prepared by arc-prasma processing. The particles were pressed in a steel die, followed by two-step sintering (873K and 1473K) in flowing nitrogen under null pressure. The nitriding reaction of aluminum is exothermic, thus ...
