Reactive power compensation by power electronic drive
Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2002The paper presents a concept of reactive power compensation using an electric drive system. The priority task is to supply the electric drive with active power. The amount of the reactive power component that can be generated to the supply line by the drive system depends on electric drive power demand and the transistor converter power ratings.

Research of Large-Capacity Low-Cost DC Deicer With Reactive Power Compensation
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2018DC ice melting is an effective technical method against ice disaster on transmission lines. To satisfy the demand for simultaneous de-icing and reactive power compensation for substations, this paper proposed a large-capacity low-cost DC deicer with ...

Dynamic reactive compensation: Reactive power fundamentals
2011 IEEE/PES Power Systems Conference and Exposition, 2011The panel presentation is a tutorial on the concept of reactive power and discusses its implications in power systems. The impact of reactive power on the system voltage as well as on component ratings and component size is discussed. The concept of reactive power and the so called ‘instantaneous’ reactive power are presented.
